Forensic Foundations’ Proficiency and Inter-laboratory Collaborative Trail program is currently distributed to 14 countries (inc. Australia & NZ).
In March 2022 our ISO17043 accreditation was continued and our scope increased to include Ignitable liquids.
We decided that we and our clients now had sufficient data to review the program we offered. We took a two pronged approach. The first prong involved contacting our existing clients and requesting frank and fearless feedback. We thank those people who contributed. It didn’t take long for themes to emerge. Here is a summary of the feedback
Positive aspects of the Forensic Foundations’ program
- The tests ask questions others don’t
- The tests are a good representation of casework with appropriate complexity
- The end-toe-end process is gold standard
Negative aspects of the Forensic Foundations’ program
- The end-to-end tests are too big, they add significantly to workload and could be streamlined,
- Cost (Note: FF PTs cost include shipping costs)
- Turn around time too short
- The test guidelines sometime unclear
As a result of this feedback and our internal review we have restructured the program for 2023.
For each discipline there will be only one or two end-to-end tests or trials and a number of smaller tests and trials which target specific aspects of the end-to-end process as illustrated in the graphic below. We have also reviewed the turn around times and the cost structure.
