2019 Completed Proficiency Tests

Once a proficiency test has been completed and the final report has been distributed to the participants, the report will be uploaded.
As the Forensic Foundations’ Proficiency Testing has only been recently developed, a sample report, for demonstration purposes has been uploaded

Bloodstain Pattern Analysis
A serious assault has occurred. Photographs have been taken at the scene showing what appears to be blood staining. Photographs were also taken post enhancement using luminol.
Participants will be provided with a number of high resolution colour images.

Glass
A break in and robbery occurred in a private home. Access was gained by breaking a window.
Clothing from a number of suspects has been seized.
Participants will be provided with samples of the glass from the scene and the debris collected from suspects’ clothing
For this Proficiency Test our results came in the form of the Manufacture’s information.

Biological Examination and DNA – Sexual Assault
A female complainant has been sexual assaulted.
Participants will be provided with the complainant’s clothing, medical samples and reference sample.
Reference samples will also be provided from the suspects.

Biological Examination and DNA – Assault
The complainant has been allegedly assaulted by 2 assailants
Participants will be provided with the clothing of the complainant and 3 suspects

Pathology and DNA Analysis
This test had no scenario but was used as an analysis of blood samples to match the DNA profiles.

2019-6 Automotive Paint
A fatal hit and run occurred. Automotive paint flakes were recovered from the scene.
Participants will be provided with the paint flakes and samples collected from a number of suspect vehicles.

2019-7 – Inter-lab Collaborative Study – Ignitable Fluid Residue
A fire occurred in a residential dwelling.
A sample of the carpet was collected, as the burn patterns indicated that it may have been deliberately lit.
Participants will be provided with the samples of carpet.
As this was a collaborative trial the report is not available on this website.
